Spiritual Awakening: A Whole New World!

A whole new world...A new fantastic point of view!
-Aladdin I would say that one of the best things I have experienced in the past five years is definitely higher level of peace, love and friendship with the people in my life. As each day passes, the temperature, personalities and attitudes of the people who are closest to me absolutely make my heart explode. As a person begins to grow into who they really are, they begin to emit this unique energetic signal, that only those who walk on the same wavelength can hear, clearly.

I read something recently that this awakening experience that many are having is in fact a way of building a New World with a whole new set of basically Universal Citizens. We have all heard that term thrown around at times. But have we really sat and thought about what it means on a personal level?

I whole-heartedly believe I am creating a New World for myself and in that world there are specific types of people and experiences. What if I tell you that in my wor…

Awareness: The Animals Hero: Finding Our Own Hero Within.

“Each one of us matters, has a role to play, and makes a difference in this world. Each one of us must take responsibility for our own lives, and above all, show respect and love for all living things around us. Especially for each other.” - Jane Goodall
Everyone needs a hero, someone to look up to and model aspects of their own life after. If you ask me who is one of my all time favorite heroes, I would tell you Jane Goodall. Not only because she was a pioneer in the study of chimpanzees during a time when women weren't recognized for their contributions to these studies, but also because she has ultimately become an international champion for environmental rights that is extremely well respected and deserved. She is calm in her demeanor yet steadfast in all things relating to animals, the environment and the well being of our Earth.

Since I have written some entries concerning our lives with animals so far, what Jane Goodall has taught me throughout her life is that All Things Ar…

Awareness: There Is No Plan B. There is Only Plan A!

“If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don't even start.  There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.”
-Charles Bukowski

I am just slightly behind the curve, a bit of a Jenny-Come-Lately. While most of my peers were discovering and creating awesome lives in their late 20’s and 30’s, I was slowly languishing away in a life I thought was right for me. I lost some time not knowing what I was here to do and I was doing things I was never meant to do. However, I do not let lost time hold me back from where I am supposed to be now. And so it’s full steam ahead. I have less time to complete “The Mission”! (Cue laughter).

When I came across the introduction image to this piece, I had first seen it on Mastin Kipp's (The Daily Love) Instagram account. I immediately had a A-HA moment. It was in that moment that I realized I h…

Spiritual Awareness: I Probably Should Not Be Telling You This!

“Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you, say what you’ve got to say, and say it hot.”  ~ D. H. Lawrence
I should know better by now; that whenever I receive an invitation to attend a worship service somewhere; there is something I need to hear. So it went, when my friend invited me to Sunday service at Unity Houston. The best way to describe Unity of Houston is that they “offer positive, practical teachings that support spiritual evolution and abundant living.” (website)
I have attended lectures and workshop events at Unity before. They have brought to Houston popular spiritual teachers such as Deepak Chopra and James Van Praagh. However, I had never been to an actual worship service. I have to say, it was probably the most unique experience I have had to date, since I have made it a point to experience the different ways people worship. There were numerous actives before and after the service, that I would say were not traditional of most churches. But …

Spiritual Awakening: It's Interesting Being a Human

“A philosopher once asked, "Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human?" Pointless, really..."Do the stars gaze back?"
Now, that's a question.”
― Neil Gaiman

“It’s interesting being Human.”
That was the thought that crossed my mind as I was walking into work the other day. It was out of the blue, so acute, that I stopped for a second. It stayed with me for the longest time. Being human is a trippy gift!
Most people, who snap out of their spiritually unconscious lives and into a new way of living, eventually come across the perspective that we are all actually spiritual beings having a human experience. It sounds very strange when you first consider it, but after a while, especially when you learn that we are energetic at our core and that energy connects us all, it truly makes sense.

Love is the energy that created all things including us. It is our most natural state of being. We are creative and able to love. That is…

Spiritual Awareness: Animals Online: An Internet Phenomena!

“Dogs come when they’re called. Cats take a message and get back to you later.” – Mary Bly
One of my favorite things to do during my down time is to surf the internet to find and watch different animal videos posted online. Many include funny videos between animals and/or humans or some are of heartwarming stories of reunions or rescues. They can either bring a smile to my face and make me laugh so hard that I’m thankful I’m in a secluded place at home or can make me cry with such deep sorrow or thankfulness that a box of tissues is always required. Animal videos are so popular, they are some of the most sought out videos on the internet. Their ability to go viral is so prevalent, it may take only one day for it to spread to millions of viewers throughout the world. Social media, YouTube and other outlets are the things ultimately responsible for this occurrence and I, for one, have been grateful for it many times over. Without this direct availability, what are these videos other tha…

Spiritual Awareness: Identifying a Life Lesson

“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open.
Do it. Throw yourself.”
― C. JoyBell C.

It’s not until we are somewhat awakened that we realize that the challenges we have or are experiencing are actually lessons designed to develop our spirits. If you were to look back at your life, you may see specific times when you faced a situation that required you to overcome something with some effort. From that experience your spirit grew.

However if you are still in a space where you are in the initial throes of waking up, how do you know if you are in the middle of a life lesson? Below are a few signs that you may be facing a spiritual lesson.

1.A sudden onset of disturbances in your life when things appeared to have been going great. This lesson could present itsel…

The Inevitable Crossroads.

“You are now at a crossroads.
This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously.
Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.”
-Anthony Robbins

In previous blog posts I have mentioned that when you intentionally set out to live your Soul’s Purpose the Universe begins to align situations in your life that will assist you in fulfilling your life’s task. You become an open vessel. People and situations with show up, and information will come to you.

A while back I inadvertently started asking for more information, or precisely, teachers, those who could help me to learn more. When I say inadvertently, it was not a precise request, but more of a realization I wanted to take the next step, not really knowing clearly what the next step was.  Out of the blue, coaching a…
