Spiritual Awareness: Identifying a Life Lesson

“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open.
Do it. Throw yourself.”

It’s not until we are somewhat awakened that we realize that the challenges we have or are experiencing are actually lessons designed to develop our spirits. If you were to look back at your life, you may see specific times when you faced a situation that required you to overcome something with some effort. From that experience your spirit grew.

However if you are still in a space where you are in the initial throes of waking up, how do you know if you are in the middle of a life lesson? Below are a few signs that you may be facing a spiritual lesson.

1.     A sudden onset of disturbances in your life when things appeared to have been going great. This lesson could present itself as a sudden loss of employment, unexpected death of a loved one, illness, conflicts in relationships/friendships, etc.
2.    A persistent situation. This manifests itself as a pattern. It comes, it goes, but you really never address it. It will keep resurfacing until you meet the situation head to head.
3.    A long-standing issue which creates stress as there appears to be no resolution. No matter what YOU try to do, you cannot get past it.
4.    A situation that affects you spiritually, mentally, emotionally and eventually, physically. A situation that just seems to weigh on your soul, constantly on your mind and affects your spirit. It is even more acute when emotions tend to run from high to low or at times, a sense of numbness.

These lessons are meant to bring about a change in us, something needs to fall away, grow and shine through. It is important to remember that these individual lessons last as long as it takes for us to first recognize them for what they are. Second, they will drag on if when once we recognize them, we resist them. Trying to avoid or circumvent the process only delays things, makes life harder and that lesson will find you again and again, unless you face it.

In the next segment to this post we will discuss different ways to move through our life courses. Always remember, our lessons are to our benefit and everyone has their own specific goals that  their spirits chose to learn.  You are having a human experience as a means to grow spiritually!

Until the next time, live the Divine Life!
